Huon Valley Escapes has recently commenced management of an amazing new boating experience.
The ‘Aquila’ Sealegs amphibious boat is exclusive to Huon Valley Escapes guests. The Skipper and crew are trained and certified to meet Marine and Safety Tasmania licensing requirements. Pick-up in Dover is available to take you to Chez Discovery accommodation.
Chez Discovery is a two bedroom, environmentally sensitive house which weaves contemporary with the past on a 1,500 acre coastal property. This comfortable, self-contained accommodation offers tranquillity and total privacy on Bruny Island, south of Hobart.
Huon Valley Escapes are running an introductory special for Chez Discovery of $250 per night for two people, room only (minimum 2 nights).

We are also excited to announce the construction of a new property, Buttongrass Retreat, located in Ida Bay, 21km south of Dover.
It will be a 2 bedroom cabin, suitable for two couples, a family or several single travelers, designed and situated to escape the hassles of modern life for a few days. Get away from television, phones and 240 volt electricity and enjoy some peace and quiet!
It is available for bookings and stays from 1 December 2011.

Spring is a great time to get outdoors in and around Dover while the weather is not too cold... and not too hot!
Bring the whole family down during the term break and enjoy a walk to South Cape Bay in Tasmania's pristine Far South. There's also Cockle Creek with a range of short walks - and it's also the furthest point south that you can drive in Australia.
While you're at it, bring the cossies and have a pre-summer swim in the naturally heated 28C pool at Hastings Cave and Thermal Springs. The BBQ facilities will feed their appetites after an active day.

The latest results from the annual EarthCheck assessment have again rated Driftwood Cottages at or above best practive in our environmental performance. We are assessed as part of the local Green Tourism program which encourages tourism operators on the Huon Trail region to operate with maximum environmental sustainability.

The arrival of Spring is bringing back the birds and wildlife at The Peninsula Experience.
Welcome Swallows in particular are returning, along with many other species of birds which have started nesting. Some of the wallabies have fat pouches!
The construction of the 4km walking track network continues on target for completion by Summer and we've made good progress on the first draft of the interpretation and guide book for the property.
We've also extended the $10 second night sale for The Peninsula until 31 October, so be quick to get it at the current price of only $305 per night for two people (minimum 2 nights).

In our last (Winter) newsletter we introduced you to Lucy, Huon Bush Retreat's cute new orphaned Rufous Wallaby.
We're sad to announce that Lucy passed away during winter and has been buried near our office where she stayed with us since a very young age. We will be placing a special tombstone on her grave in her memory.
As the circle of life goes on, we've noticed a number of wallabies roaming our site with fat pouches. A past orphan and now fully-grown adult, Ruby, is one of the lucky mums carrying a joey!
Our 5km walking track network offers a perfect opportunity to get out and enjoy the Spring weather and see some of the wallabies with young - don't forget, you don't have to stay with us to enjoy a walk amongst our native Tasmanian forest.
